In my return to trawling through Reddit to find some good undiscovered artists, this gorgeous five-track EP popped up from a project called Goodbye Treehouse. From what I could gather in my quick research, the mind behind this music used to release titles under the name Confetti Collective. So this musician has plenty of experience putting out Bandcamp bangers.
This self-titled disc has the sound of a four-track cassette demo, lush with analog warmth that doesn’t sound like a VST effect (the bane of most vintage-sounding recordings in a digital world). Between the small slice of music kicking off “ALL AROUND ME” and the slow concluding interlude “GOODBYE”, Goodbye Treehouse leaves nothing to be desired: Every instrument gels together, and every deliberate chord choice conveys a mood.
The record is tender, perfect for the coming of spring, sounding like a noon sun on a sixty-degree day. You could take a mile-long walk in your most comfortable sweater listening to this, letting every worry slip away as a smile creeps onto your face. The track “DONT WORRY BUMBLEBEE” has a good deal of this infectious happy musicality.
On the Reddit post announcing this album’s release, Goodbye Treehouse said they had self-produced the EP in a little over a week and spontaneously released it. They also stated they were not announcing it on any other socials. Well, then we will talk about it! This album deserves a much wider audience, although it feels special to come across it tucked away on r/MusicPromotion, where few may ever find it. Oh, the dilemma of being perceived! Sometimes pursuing fame leads only to pain, while passing like the wind may lead you where you were destined to land. I just made that up.
