Perhaps you have some questions. Here are answers.
What types of artists do you feature on Songs From Friends?
Alt/indie/bedroom/post-/weird pop/rock/indie/folk/hip-hop, and potentially others, depending on how we feel on any given day. Overall, we want to spotlight independent musicians whose sounds might resonate throughout the group chat.
How can I submit my music?
Soon! We are still setting up mail boxes and getting on the major submission sites, so hang in there!
How often will you post?
We run a small but tight ship here, so we hope to have two to three new tracks per day, along with a feature thrown in every now and then.
Who can I yell at if I see a mistake in a post?
You can email us once we get the mail box set up! And in advance: We’re sorry.
What is your AI policy?
One word: No! Just no. That’s it.
To extrapolate on that: Songs From Friends will never use AI in our work, and we except the artists we write about to refrain from AI as well. The rise of generative artificial intelligence in the world – especially in the creative space – has rotted society to the brink of anti-intellectualism and given more power to the oligarchic systems who seek to sap everything from humanity for their own selfish gains.
So no! No AI. That is our policy. Thank you for asking.
I dig the font on the site! What’s it called?
The font is called Atkinson Hyperlegible, and it is provided free of charge from the good folks over at the Braille Institute! It’s supposed to be easier to read for people with vision or reading issues. We want as many folks as possible to enjoy what they see here, so it was the natural choice! (Of course, we could have gone chaos mode and written everything in Webdings.)
