I was digging this track over the weekend while attending to some birthday R&R; it came over the Internet radio station I was blasting from the car on my way up I-95 in the wintry mix. The sound of “Lemme Come Over” signaled warmer skies ahead, at least in the temporal sense.

A little Teenage Fanclub, a little Fountains Of Wayne, it’s the first single in a while from Dave Brandwein, the mind behind Band For Sale. He wrote the track in rehab a few years ago about a torrid love affair, and at long last put it to music with the help Matt Musty (of Train, yes, the “Drops of Jupiter” band) on drums and Kurtis Keber (who has performed with Grace Potter) on bass. Backing vocals come from Danke and Andrew Michael Burri (formerly of the band Lucius)

The track gives off that vibe of “80’s movie in which one of the main characters shows up on their love interest’s front lawn with their band.” In this day and age, that gambit might not work. (Hell, it didn’t work in the 80’s, no matter how much Say Anything convinced guys that it did.) But I gotta give Band For Sale props for keeping that spirit alive. Take a listen to “Lemme Come Over” below:
